The dry cleaning method is to clean the surface of stainless steel castings by friction treatment based on shot blasting. Simply put, shot blasting is powered by compressed air to spray projectiles on the surface of stainless steel castings at a certain speed to clean the surface. However, this friction cleaning method has been adopted by many manufacturers and has been almost eliminated due to low efficiency, uneven cleaning, and poor results.
The wet cleaning method is mainly based on the principle of the electro-hydraulic hammer effect. The high-voltage pulse generator is discharged through a special electrode placed in the water to produce a large hydraulic impact. Because the surface adhesion of stainless steel castings and the casting itself have different elastic modulus and vibration frequency, the purpose of sand removal is achieved. For stainless steel castings with complex shapes, such as deep holes, blind holes, and inner cavities, it has a relatively effective cleaning effect. It is currently the most widely used surface cleaning method for a series of castings including stainless steel castings.
